PLAIN-CLOTHED SAFEGUARDING IN CHELTENHAM'S NIGHT-TIME ECONOMY
The Cheltenham Guardians Safeguarding Team is deploying a specialist team of plain-clothed female safeguarding officers into Cheltenham's town centre venues to help prevent spiking and sexual offences.
Working closely with venue management our officers will be looking for the early signs of vulnerability and criminality directed toward women and girls. Any situations of concern that our officers identify will be escalated to venue security, our uniformed Guardian team and the police if necessary.
CGST joint operations director Terry Howard said: "Project Eve will become a permanent and priority tasking for the Cheltenham Guardians Safeguarding Team as part of our India Protocol safeguarding service delivery. By utilising plain-clothed officers we can extend the reach of our already comprehensive safety net thereby increasing the safety and security of women inside of venues".
